Bedsteads
Bedsteads are normally upto 5cm wider than divans.
Width. Purchase the widest divan you can accommodate.
- A single divan or mattress is 3’0 wide and yet a standard double is only half as big again at 4’6 wide.
- The best body width indicator of a prostrate human is the elbow to elbow width in relaxed standing. This averages between 23/24” for adults giving only 8” for both partners when arms and legs stray during natural sleep movement.
- 5’0 divans and mattresses are, generally speaking, 3 to 4 inches longer than the narrower widths, an important issue for the taller person.
- Try adding the height of each person and dividing by two. This will give you the ideal width of the bed you should aim to buy.
